Horseheads is a village located in Chemung County, New York. The village is home to a population of 6,606 as of the 2020 census. Its name comes from the bleached horse skulls that were found in the area during the Sullivan Expedition.

Eugene Zimmerman, a prominent cartoonist in the late nineteenth century, lived in Horseheads. He later married a local girl and built a house there. He created many of the famous caricatures in Puck and Judge and left behind a lasting legacy.
